Gnome Mere Words…No mere words can express our gratitude and amazement. Artists, neighbors and businesses all came together to bring more public art projects to the streets of NoDa. The Pimp My Gnome auction on May 14th at the Neighborhood Theatre was a huge success. The Theatre was packed with people on a mission to give one of our 26 gnomes a home. The bidding was brutal! Paddles were flying and the competition was fierce. “Frank The Forest Gnome” brought in the highest bid of $1,000 and won his creators, Patti Byrd & Adam Schaeffer, $100 in cash and $90 worth of gift cards. Every gnome found a home and more than $6,500 gross was raised for NoDaRioty. It was a night of fun, however, there was one tragic note. “Kirby the Keeper of the Creatures” (created by Kendra Baird) got so excited about going to live auction that he jumped off his pedestal, broke his leg and was unable to go on. Kirby is in critical condition but will be nursed backed to health and looking for a home soon, so watch for more news on him. Let’s keep it going! The NoDaRioty team will be meeting with the arts community to prioritize and decide which projects to fund with the proceeds. A sincere thanks goes out to all involved. Only in NoDa!
